Have you ever wanted bigger arms? Most guys wonder what workouts to get bigger arms exist and then they automatically think of doing lots of bicep workouts to make their arms huge. Well, I have some bad news for you if you love working out your biceps. The way to get huge arms is by doing tricep exercises not by doing biceps.
I once heard a coach say that “curls are for girls” and there is some truth in that. Don’t get me wrong, you need to do bicep curls every once in a while to keep a little ball on the front of your arm but if you are wondering how to get bigger arms you have to look to triceps. Here we will look at some of the best tricep exercises to add mass to your arms.
The kickback is a great tricep exercise that many guys feel is a girly workout. Well, I will tell you that doing kickbacks will add more inches to your arms than any type of bicep exercise.
Skull crushers are a great way to add serious mass on the arms. When you are laying down and have the curved bar, you can do a lot of weight and really make the triceps grow.
Dips are a great way to fatigue the tricep and force it to grow. The more you keep your body straight up and down the more emphasis will be put on your triceps. I recommend doing a circuit training workout where you combine tricep dips with pushups to really blast the triceps.
Just think about the names of the muscles and compare the bicep (2 head) and tricep (3 heads), it’s common sense that it’s smarter to work the tricep harder to get your arms to grow. Many workout programs don’t even include bicep curls anymore because the biceps get a good enough workout from doing pull-ups and other pulling movements. I wouldn’t recommend completely cutting out bicep curls from your workout but I would recommend that you put most of your focus on hitting the tricep exercises and only do curls for that extra little pump.
