Bodybuilding

Bodybuilding is a way to develop the muscles in the body in the most efficient and effective way.  Many people want to get the best body possible but very few are willing to devote the time and effort needed to obtain it.  A bodybuilding workout is much more intense than your typical workout to lose fat and build muscle.  Bodybuilders focus on transforming their bodies into works of art, they are sculptors in a sense and their bodies are their clay.  For Arnold Schwarzenegger bodybuilding opened doors that lead him into an acting career and now he is the governor of California.  Many people hope to have the same results and success as Arnold Schwarzenegger but very have that amount of dedication.

Remember that diet is key

Every bodybuilder must follow a strict bodybuilding diet that allows absolutely no cheating.  All bodybuilders must consume an abnormal amount of protein to provide the muscles with the food they need to grow bigger and stronger.  Bodybuilding training is not for all and most people don’t have the time that it takes to achieve the results.  Many professional and aspiring weight lifters are spending up to 4 hours in the gym everyday.

Do you want to know exactly how to get an amazing stomach?

In bodybuilding nutrition is the answer for the all time question of how to get ripped.  A typical diet of a bodybuilder would consist of foods high in protein and low in carbs and fat.  Eggs and chicken are consumed almost everyday along with supplements.  There is no question that in bodybuilding steroids are used by competitors in every major competition.  There are now competitions that are called “all natural” and this simply means that the bodybuilding supplements used in the competition are considered legal for the time being.  There are many supplements that are legal only until they are discovered and banned.  Many pro hormone supplements will cause liver failure and should always be followed by the appropriate pills to protect your liver during the post cycle.  Some bodybuilding transformations are unbelievably stunning.  Many people don’t realize that it takes several years to get a body that will be ready to compete.

Bodybuilding Workouts

Sets and Reps

Reps is short for repetitions and is the number of times you lift a weight.  A set is how many different times you perform a certain exercise.  So if you are doing curls, each time your curl the weight is a rep.  So in your first set you might curl the weight 10 times which would result in 1 set of 10 reps.  Most bodybuilders will recommend doing at least 4 sets for each muscle group.  The actual number of sets and reps will change monthly and even weekly in some cases to ensure that your muscles never adapt to the training.  Always make sure to warm-up properly before starting your first set.  Many people prefer to do a light jog in order for the blood to start flowing.  Never stretch a cold muscle!  Muscles should always be warmed up before any stretching takes place.  Another way to warm up is to do a set of the exercise you are about to perform with a weight that is significantly lighter than what you will use for your actual sets.  Stretching is very important in any workout routine and yoga is a great way to stretch your muscles.  Always make sure that you do not train a muscle that is injured or over trained.  Over training will have reverse effects on your muscle gains.  If you are wondering how to build muscle the answer is to train smarter rather than harder.  Being able to differentiate muscle soreness from muscle injury is very important to every athlete.  Muscle grows while you are resting it so it would make sense that many people get bigger when they begin to rest more rather than overtrain their muscles.

Bodybuilding Program

Bodybuilders don’t train every muscle everyday, they split up the body into parts and workout each muscle either ever other day or every third day depending on the rest needed by that muscle.  There are many different ways that you can split up the body to train different muscle each day.  Some people prefer to do upper body one day and lower body the next.  Doing the upper/lower body split is becoming less popular because there are more lifts for the upper body than for the lower and it makes one day a lot longer in the gym than the other.  Another popular split is to do all the push muscles on one day, all of the pull muscles on the next day and the legs on the third day.  An example of a push muscle would be the chest and a pull muscle would be the back.  This push/pull/leg split is very popular because it divides the workouts almost evenly for each day the gym.  It is recommended that you train at least 4 times a week but preferably 6 times a week in order to workout your muscles fully throughout the week.  There is no physiological advantage of training in the morning compared to training at night.  You should train when you personally feel the strongest and the best.
